Printing 101
Raster vs Vector
Raster images are composed of small dots called pixels. When the scale of a raster image is increased, it can become blurry and lose some of the integrity of the image. Vector images, alternatively, are composed of paths, as opposed to individual pixels. These images retain the integrity of the image when scaled, keeping your images looking how you intend. Adobe Illustrator is the most common used software for creating vector images. When printing, we recommend vector images for best results.

Image Resolution
What are the resolution specifications for a submitted file? The resolution of an image determines how much detail is present. This is measured in two ways – pixels per inch (ppi) for digital images, and dots per linear inch (dpi) for printed images. The higher the resolution, the more detail your photos will have, and the larger your file size will be. When printing, we recommend all images have a minimum of 300 dpi for best results.
RGB vs CMYK
RGB color mode uses three channels to create colors (Red, Green, and Blue). RGB color mode is used for digital images.CMYK color mode uses the four process ink colors (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black) to create colors for printing. When printing, we recommend using CMYK colors for best results.

Bleed Line
Bleed refers to the amount of your artwork that falls outside the size of your final piece. Bleed allows for a margin of error in the production process, so that ink is still printed to the edge after the art has been cut. For printing, we recommend a minimum bleed size of 1/8” on all sides.

What hardware should I use to display my banner with grommets?
Depending on how long you'll be displaying it, you can use bungee cords, rope, zip ties, or similiar materials to affix your banner in place through the grommets. We recommend securing the banner by each installed grommet for best results in most cases.
If the banner will be freestanding in a yard or a field, we recommend affixing it to
U channel posts with anchor plates
(measuring 1-2ft taller than the banner) installed on both ends of the banner. For banners wider than 4ft, install and affix to additional posts along the banner for added stability. Larger banners may require more posts.
